About the 7th Edition
The Breastfeeding Atlas, 7th edition, has new photos and has been substantially re-written to reflect the most current research and best, evidence-based clinical practices. It also reflects the practical experience of Barbara Wilson-Clay, and Kay Hoover, both Fellows of the International Lactation Consultant Association, who have each been assisting mothers and babies for more than 30 years. A must-have text for students, candidates for the IBLCE (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners) exam, and practitioners working in maternal-child health fields. Spiral binding permits book to open flat for easy study.
At first, I was dreading reading through this book because it's a flip back and forth type of review. It's not bad once you delve into it. Some pictures seem a little old grained, however the CULTURE that appear in the photographs are put together beautifully. I can tell this book was blood, sweat, and tears to publish... and to keep updated! A common critique all readers likely have is: we wish this book were more durable, because by chapter 6, you tend to notice the spiral wearing out and up from the pages. I cannot give thanks to KH and BWC, enough! Thank you for your efforts and all your help. You've put a great piece of lactation education literature together. Thank you for this masterpiece!
The content is great of course, but the cover seems like it will not last long at all and will have the "worn and torn" look in no time. I like the spiral option but the cover needs to be of better quality.
I am an IBCLC and Doctor of Public Health and love that there is a new edition out. It is always great to keep up with the current knowledge.
I bought this new edition just in time to use it to study for my first IBCLC exam. I felt it helped me prepare well, not simply because of the clinical photos but the text descriptions are very well written, making it easy to understand the significance of certain features of the photos as well as the context that surrounds them. I am very glad to have this resource on my bookshelf!
Glad they added a section about covid!
